Volunteers from four Local Ambulance Committees enjoyed a brush up in first aid and CPR training at a mini-workshop in Kingaroy on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Members from the Kingaroy, Murgon, Proston and Nanango LACs gathered in the training room at the Kingaroy QAS station.<\/p>\n

The workshop was led by QAS Operations Supervisor For Community Education and Engagement Michelle Molyneux, who travelled across from Toowoomba for the session.<\/p>\n

Michelle shared a simple message ahead of “Restart A Heart Day” (October 16): Call, Push, Shock, ie:<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. Call Triple 0 (000)<\/p>\n

2. Push hard and fast in the centre of the chest<\/p>\n

3. Use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) if available. Turn it on and listen to the instructions.<\/p>\n

Time counts in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest.<\/p>\n

According to paramedics, for every minute that passes without intervention, the chance of survival decreases by 10 per cent.<\/p>\n

UPDATE: The Kingaroy LAC will be hosting a CPR \/ AED training session outside Peries SupaIGA in Avoca Street, Kingaroy, next Monday (October 16) from 1:00pm for “Restart A Heart Day”.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
