The Mayor’s South Burnett Red Earth Flood Appeal received a boost of about $3000 following a Sportsman’s Dinner and auction held at the Maidenwell Hotel on Saturday night.<\/p>\n

Patrons in the packed bar enjoyed anecdotes from leading sportspeople, including former Olympic swimmer Julie McDonald and cricket international Carl Rackemann, before getting the opportunity to bid on a wide range of sporting memorabilia.<\/p>\n

Publican Gavin Jones said there were between 150 and 200 meals served and everyone seemed to have a great time.<\/p>\n

The Mayor’s Flood Appeal runs until the end of May.<\/p>\n

Money raised from the appeal is already being distributed to South Burnett farmers to use at local stores.<\/p>\n
