South Burnett Musical Comedy Society is keen to pass the love of the stage on to younger generations, which is the aim behind a new production which will debut in Kingaroy on Friday night.<\/p>\n

“Annie Jnr” is starring 18 talented young people aged from eight to 18.<\/p>\n

They have been practising for 10 weeks, as well as learning a lot about the technical side of how to put on a musical.<\/p>\n

Director Zoe Basham said this was the first time the South Burnett Musical Comedy Society had organised a Youth Theatre Project.<\/p>\n

“It has included a lot of educational elements, focussing on how to put a show together, and the skills needed to do that,” Zoe said.<\/p>\n

“We hope the kids will walk away with new skills after a positive experience which piques their interest in the performing arts.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

Zoe said the performers came from several different schools, and included home-schooled students.<\/p>\n

The practices have been held at both Kingaroy State High School and at Saint Mary’s Catholic College.<\/p>\n

“We have had great support from both schools,” she said.<\/p>\n

Zoe also paid tribute to her assistant director, Sue Dowideit-Reiger.<\/p>\n

“I would not have got anywhere without her!” Zoe said.<\/p>\n

There will only be three performances of Annie Jnr, and all will be held at the Kingaroy Performing Arts Centre (KPAC), at the western end of Markwell Street:<\/strong><\/p>\n
