The large grass fire spread quickly through scrub behind Barber Street towards the Cherbourg dump and forestry<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

September 26, 2023<\/strong><\/p>\n

Large clouds of grey and black smoke billowed from a large grass fire burning near Barber Street in Cherbourg on Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n

The first fire crew arrived at the scene about 1:30pm, with five more units quickly joining them at the incident.<\/p>\n

A QFES spokesperson said fire crews immediately back-burned one side of the blaze to make nearby properties safe.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Crews then carried out similar burns on the remaining three sides to prevent the fire spreading into neighbouring bushland.<\/p>\n

At 2:30pm, they reported the blaze was burning within containment lines.<\/p>\n

Fire crews will remain on site to monitor progress and ensure the fire is extinguished.<\/p>\n
