A small wall at the rear of the hotel collapses as the flames rage on Saturday afternoon<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

September 23, 2023<\/strong><\/p>\n

A rear section of the Broadway Hotel in Kingaroy was badly damaged by fire on Saturday afternoon, the second blaze at the building in less than a year.<\/p>\n

A QFES spokesperson confirmed a fire investigator had been requested to probe the cause of the latest incident.<\/p>\n

Fire crews were called to the historic pub, in Kingaroy Street, just before 3:00pm.<\/p>\n

At the height of the blaze five crews were involved, including trucks from Nanango as well as Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

QAS paramedics were on standby, and police had the street blocked off.<\/p>\n

The QFES spokesperson said the building had been searched and firefighters had confirmed there was no one inside.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Smoke billowed from the building as fire crews worked to extinguish the flames.<\/p>\n

Several small walls of an annex at the rear of the main building collapsed as firefighters, wearing breathing gear, worked to smother the flames with their hoses.<\/p>\n

At 3:35pm, the QFES spokesperson confirmed the blaze had been extinguished but fire crews remained on scene to ventilate the building and remove smoke.<\/p>\n
