The Ironing Maidens – aka Patty Preece and Melania Jack – are bringing their hilarious “Electro House Wife” concert to Nanango next month, but it’s not all fun and games for the pair.<\/p>\n

They’ll also be hosting a series of workshops to share some of their skills during their visit to the South Burnett.<\/p>\n

The duo has scheduled music-making and dance workshops for a limited number of local residents.<\/p>\n

A two-hour dance workshop, which has a maximum of 30 participants, will be held on October 3 at Kingaroy Town Hall.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It’s suitable for teenagers (age 12 plus) and adults, and no prior experience is necessary.<\/p>\n

Patty and Melania will be joined by Nadia Milford who is a well-known dance artist and performer.<\/p>\n

Cost is $15 and bookings can be made online<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

A two-hour music workshop, also on October 3 at Kingaroy Town Hall, will introduce 15 participants to the world of electronic music production, using Ableton software.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The duo is also reaching out to some local schoolkids.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Students from Saint Mary’s Catholic College will be getting a unique opportunity to engage with The Ironing Maidens during their visit.<\/p>\n

During a music-making workshop, Years 7-12 will compose and record a group song.<\/p>\n

A second workshop will immerse the students in some fundamental dance techniques and choreography from “Electro House Wife”. The students will learn some dance moves which they will get to perform at the main Nanango concert (see below).<\/p>\n

The Ironing Maidens’ live show, “Electro House Wife”, will be held at Nanango Cultural Centre on October 7.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It has been described as “the most fun you will ever have while thinking about the housework”.<\/p>\n

The pair will turn real irons and ironing boards into electronic instruments in a high energy mix of dancing, music, visuals and humour.<\/p>\n

The Ironing Maidens have toured Europe as well as locally at the Falls Festival,\u00a0 the Woodford Folk Festival and the Adelaide Fringe.<\/p>\n

Tickets for the concert can be booked online<\/a><\/strong> for $15, or bought at the door for $25 (children under 12 are free).<\/p>\n
