Eight more Australian export cattle have reportedly tested positive to Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) in Indonesia.<\/p>\n

The cattle were exported from three registered facilities, two in Western Australia and one in the Northern Territory.<\/p>\n

In July, imports from four other facilities in northern Australia were suspended by Indonesia after cattle which had passed through them tested positive to LSD in Indonesia.<\/p>\n

In August, Malaysia temporarily suspended live cattle and buffalo exports from Australia after LSD was detected in Indonesia from cattle exported from Australia.<\/p>\n

At the time, Chief Veterinary Officer Dr Mark Schipp reiterated that LSD had never been detected in Australia.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“There is no cause for concern for Australian cattle producers as Australia remains LSD free,” Dr Schipp said.<\/p>\n

Random testing conducted across northern Australia since 2022 has not detected LSD in Australian cattle.<\/p>\n

LSD is a highly infectious viral disease of cattle and buffalo which is transmitted by biting insects.<\/p>\n

It poses no risk to humans.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/div>\n

LSD was first detected in Indonesia in March 2022 and since then has spread rapidly across the country.<\/p>\n
