August 8, 2023<\/strong><\/p>\n

South Burnett Toastmasters hosted Round 1 of their annual club speech contests at Kingaroy last Thursday night.<\/p>\n

Trevor Stead took out the Humorous contest with his prepared speech, which had to be between five and seven minutes long.<\/p>\n

Marietta Wetzig was placed first in the Table Topics contest, which consists of a two-minute impromptu speech on a topic competitors are given just beforehand.<\/p>\n

Round 2 of the contests – International and Evaluation – will be held on August 17.<\/p>\n

The four winners from the two rounds will then compete at the Toastmasters Area competition, which will be hosted by the South Burnett Toastmasters at Wondai on October 14.<\/strong><\/p>\n

South Burnett president Abigail Andersson said the Toastmasters club meets fortnightly in the Anzac Room at Kingaroy RSL Club.<\/p>\n

New members are always welcome.<\/p>\n
