The Interim Truth and Treaty Body (ITTB) has handed its advice to the State Government, the next step towards establishing a Truth Telling and Healing Inquiry and a First Nations Treaty Institute in Queensland.<\/p>\n

The advice is part of the co-design process between the State Government and First Nations representatives to explore the establishment of the Inquiry and Institute.<\/p>\n

Members of the ITTB held consultations with residents of Indigenous communities around the State before drafting their advice, which will help shape the next steps on Queensland’s Path to Treaty.<\/p>\n

Representatives met Cherbourg residents in April.<\/p>\n

The ITTB was established last year to provide independent advice to the State Government.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI thank and congratulate the ITTB for their work over the past year in ensuring that we hear from the voices of communities across Queensland,” Minister for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships and Minister for Treaty Leeanne Enoch said.<\/p>\n

“These perspectives are vital as we finalise the detailed arrangements for the Truth-Telling and Healing Inquiry and the First Nations Treaty Institute.<\/p>\n

“I particularly want to recognise the co-chairs, Cheryl Buchanan and Sally-Anne Atkinson, for their vast body of work, not just in this advice received today but also their critical role in the co-design of the Path to Treaty legislation.”<\/p>\n
