A large crowd turned out to the Kingaroy Regional Art Gallery on Saturday afternoon for the official opening of its August exhibitions.<\/p>\n

This month the gallery is hosting three displays: “Wild and Whimsical” by members of the Left Of Centre art group; “Scenes From Life” by Maureen Meggitt-Lorne; and “Horse Drawn” by Sam Blanch.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Wild and Whimsical” is a joint exhibition by artists Lois Vreeken, Suzy Flintham, Lois Hamilton, Ros Smith and Brenda Holding that ranges from quirky pottery through to striking works in oils and acrylics.<\/p>\n

By contrast, respected artist Maureen Meggitt-Lorne’s solo exhibition is a retrospective of some of her portraiture works, which focus heavily on farmers and rural families.<\/p>\n

Sam Blanch’s solo exhibition features seven highly stylised, meticulously drawn acrylic paint pen images of horses.<\/p>\n

Many of the works on show were sporting “sold” stickers by the mid-point of the official opening, and gallery curator Fran van Vegchel said she was delighted with both attendance numbers and the crowd’s response.<\/p>\n

The latest exhibition also marks the return of the gallery’s monthly exhibition schedule after a two-month hiatus for the Winter Craft Festival during June and July.<\/p>\n

The latest exhibitions will remain on display from 10:00am to 4:00pm, Mondays to Fridays, and 9:00am to 1:00pm on weekends, until August 31.<\/strong><\/p>\n
