A BreastScreen Queensland van will be visiting Cherbourg and Murgon next month.<\/p>\n

It will be at Cherbourg Hospital on August 15-17 and Murgon Hospital from August 18 to September 1.<\/p>\n

Health Promotion Officer Sandra Peut has encouraged local women to attend the free service while it’s in the area.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cOur Mobile Service visits the region each year, and we urge women to take advantage of this opportunity by booking a free breast screen,” Ms Peut said.<\/p>\n

\u201cRegular two-yearly screening at BreastScreen Queensland means any breast changes can be picked up at an earlier stage when they\u2019re easier to treat.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe strive to make breast screening easy and accessible, with sites close to where people live and a range of appointment times, including offering Saturday appointments at Murgon on August 19 and 26.”<\/p>\n

One in seven women in Australia will develop breast cancer at some stage in their life. A breast screen is the best way to find breast cancer in its earliest stages for better health outcomes.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Women aged between 50 and 74 are strongly recommended to have a breast screen every two years, as 75 per cent of breast cancer diagnoses are in this age group.<\/p>\n

Women in their 40s and those aged over 75 are also eligible for the free service every two years.<\/p>\n

Appointments can be made by seeing a health worker or phoning 13-20-50.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
