Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea is celebrating a big birthday! It’s been 20 years since the simple idea of small groups of people getting together to host a morning tea became an important fundraiser for the Cancer Council.<\/p>\n

Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea events are held throughout May and June in workplaces, schools, private homes, public halls … in fact wherever a few people can get together to share some nibblies and a cuppa.<\/p>\n

This morning two\u00a0Australia’s Biggest Morning Teas were held in Kingaroy: at The Peanut Van’s corporate HQ in Kingaroy Street, and at the Anglican Church Hall in Alford St.<\/p>\n

At The Peanut Van, employees and their friends and family mingled with workers from the Endeavour Kitchen across the road and passers-by to raise funds for the Cancer Council.<\/p>\n

They were joined by\u00a0Relay For Life co-ordinator Rowena Dionysius.<\/p>\n

At the Anglican Church Hall, a larger crowd gathered to enjoy morning tea and watch as Lady Bjelke-Petersen cut a 20th Birthday cake.<\/p>\n

They also took part in a lively auction, run by auctioneer Bill Steffensen, and bought raffle tickets.<\/p>\n

And there’s more Australia’s Biggest Morning Teas on the horizon.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, \u00a0May 19, the Maidenwell branch of the QCWA will be holding a morning tea at the Maidenwell Hall from 9:30am. There will also be a “bring and buy” table. Admission is by gold coin donation.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, May 21, Dimities Cottage in Wondai will be holding a morning tea from 10:00am to 2:00pm. Admission is $5 which includes raffles and guest speakers.<\/p>\n
