Lions Camp Duckadang – on the upper reaches of the Brisbane River north of Linville – is holding an Open Day on Saturday to allow groups to “road test” the facilities.<\/p>\n

The camp, at 117 Avoca Creek Road (aka Avoca Lane) at Avoca Vale is a joint project between Queensland Lions Districts 1, 3 and 4.<\/p>\n

It will be open to visitors from 10:00am to 3:00pm to inspect the facilities.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant effect on the camp’s bottom line, so the group is hoping to build interest with the Open Day.<\/p>\n

The camp is used by schools but can also host activities for community groups, government teams and businesses.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m inviting people to come and road test our many outdoor activities,” camp chairman Greg Rollason said.<\/p>\n

“These are designed for young people who enjoy outdoor activities and those young at heart.<\/p>\n

“There’s no entry fee for our Open Day and we\u2019ll have guided tours every 30 minutes.\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n

For a donation, Lions\u2019 members will serve refreshments and a simple lunch, a sausage sizzle, mini hamburger or chicken wrap.<\/p>\n

“Otherwise you\u2019re welcome to pack your own lunch or perhaps lunch at the historic Linville pub or convenience store and caf\u00e9,” Mr Rollason said.<\/p>\n

Lions Camp Duckadang caters for schools, social groups, family gatherings, team building \/ training or workshops and weddings.<\/p>\n

Outdoor activities include canoeing, archery, mini golf, basketball, tennis and volleyball but there’s also a swimming pool, playground tower, giant see saw, giant chess, gaga pit, low ropes course, 12 metre climbing tower and zip line. <\/strong><\/p>\n

“We also have a 20cm telescope and an outdoor arena seating 50 people,” Mr Rollason said.<\/p>\n

“Indoor activities include air hockey, darts, pool table, table tennis and bowling.<\/p>\n

“Also, we have a 120-seat hall with AV equipment.”<\/p>\n

Manager Paul Taylor will be offering supervised activities such as archery, the climbing tower and zip line at the Open Day.<\/p>\n

Accommodation at Lions Camp Duckadang includes three 24-28 bed bunk dormitories, a two-bedroom self-contained house which can sleep eight, seven powered caravan sites and eight tent sites.<\/p>\n
