Rebecca Vonhoff has been appointed as the new Deputy Mayor for Toowoomba Regional Council.<\/p>\n

She was appointed Deputy Mayor by her colleagues at a Special Meeting of Council on Friday.<\/p>\n

Cr Vonhoff replaces Cr Geoff McDonald, who was elected Mayor on July 21 after the resignation of former Mayor Paul Antonio took effect.<\/p>\n

Cr Vonhoff said she was excited to take on the role.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m humbled and honoured to have the support of my peers,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is an important role in our community, and I want to assure our residents I\u2019m focused on delivering.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs Councillors, we\u2019re in such a privileged position where we get to represent this wonderful community and I\u2019m grateful to be able to continue serving our residents as Deputy Mayor.<\/p>\n

\u201cI look forward to working closely with the newly appointed Mayor and all my colleagues for the remainder of the term.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mayor Geoff McDonald congratulated Cr Vonhoff on the appointment.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s been a lot of change over the past few weeks and this change presents us with a chance to reset our focus as a collective group,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a united team, we\u2019re committed to working collaboratively in the best interests of our community.<\/p>\n
