South Burnett residents can get a 10 per cent discount on campsites and cabins at the region’s two dams if they book in non-peak periods.<\/p>\n

The discount has come about after Councillors adopted an idea proposed by Cr Jane Erkens to encourage more locals to use the facilities.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Apart from allowing residents to share the benefits of these two Council-operated tourist parks, Cr Erkens said she believed the move would help improve the community’s knowledge about the facilities offered at both dams.<\/p>\n

This would also help make them “unofficial tourism ambassadors” for the dams, encouraging them to invite friends and relatives from outside the region to make use of the facilities too.<\/p>\n

Peak periods for the dams are school vacations, Easter and the Christmas-New Year period from the second week of December through to the third week of January.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Both dams generally run at, or near, peak capacity during those times.<\/p>\n

However, most camping and cabin accommodation options are available outside these periods.<\/p>\n

Residents wanting to claim the discount will need to show their driver’s licence or other ID when they arrive at either dam to prove residency.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
