It’s going to get a little bit crazy at Wondai Sportsground on Saturday when the massive Wondai Mini Mods Carnival hits town again.<\/p>\n

The annual celebration of junior rugby league is always lots of fun, but also requires weeks of preparation by the hosts, Wondai Wolves.<\/p>\n

This year there will be hundreds young players from 22 clubs – 85 teams in all! – coming from across the South Burnett, Wide Bay and south-east Queensland.<\/p>\n

The youngsters will also be accompanied by team staff as well as their supporters, creating a great atmosphere at the ground.<\/p>\n

Under 6s through to Under 12s will be playing round robin games across nine fields.<\/p>\n

All up, more than 200 Mini-Mod games have been scheduled!<\/p>\n

First games kick off at 7:00am with the latest games starting about 5:00pm.<\/p>\n

Presentations will be made to each player when their age group’s round of games is completed.<\/p>\n

Hostplus Cup<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

Wondai Wolves were the proud hosts of a Round 18 game from the QRL’s Hostplus Cup last Saturday at Wondai.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is Queensland’s premier rugby league competition which features upcoming, current and some former NRL players.<\/p>\n

Every year, the QRL “goes bush” with its Country Week round and games are played in regional centres across the State.<\/p>\n

This year it was Wondai’s turn, hosting rivals Norths Devils and Wynnum-Manly Seagulls.<\/p>\n

In the end, Devils held off a\u00a0 strong Wynnum comeback in the second half to win 44-32 after leading 20-12 at half-time.<\/p>\n

Norths’ tries were scored by Manase Kaho, Jonathon Reuben, Connor Broadhurst, Zachery McMinn, Sam Elliott, Liam Horne and Jonathon Reuben.<\/p>\n

Seagulls’ try scorers were Kyle Foxwell (2), Darius Farmer, Oliver Pascoe and Joshua Stuckey.<\/p>\n

The crowd enjoyed a professional display of goal kicking with Norths’ Bryce Donovan kicking seven from seven conversions plus a penalty.<\/p>\n

His Wynnum counterpart, Josh Rogers, kicked five from five, plus a penalty.<\/p>\n
