The Queensland Youth Orchestra offered concertgoers in Kingaroy Town Hall a rare opportunity last week to enjoy elite musicianship in a free concert.<\/p>\n

The touring group, from Brisbane, attracted a good crowd to hear orchestral favourites by classical composers Rossini, Beethoven, Puccini and Handel as well as the 20th century master Sch\u00f6nberg.<\/p>\n

The orchestra, which features musicians aged from 8 to 25, was conducted by Chen Yang.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Chen was formerly concert master at the Queensland Theatre Orchestra (later renamed the Queensland Philharmonic) and was in the first violin section of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra for eight years.<\/p>\n

He was joined at the Kingaroy concert by the Queensland Youth Orchestra’s 2023 Artist in Residence, soprano Nina Korbe, who stunned the audience with her vocal performance.<\/p>\n

The QYO performance was sponsored by philanthropist Timothy Fairfax AC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
