St John Ambulance has expanded its Eye Van service to more parts of regional Queensland, including into the South Burnett.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson said the Eye Van was a fully equipped ophthalmology and optometry treatment centre, with state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment instruments.<\/p>\n

It has a special focus on reducing preventable blindness among First Nations people with diabetes but everyone can access the service.<\/p>\n

The van, which visited Cherbourg recently, is equipped to manage the three most common complications of diabetes: refractive change, cataracts and diabetic retinopathy.<\/p>\n

St John Ambulance recently celebrated 140 years of serving the Australian community.<\/p>\n

It has launched an online appeal<\/a> to raise funds for programs such as the St John Eye Van.<\/strong><\/p>\n
