Footbridge Replacement, Youth Precinct Redevelopment, new picnic tables under shelters<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>QEII Park Murgon &#8211; Stage 2 QEII Redevelopment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Murgon Skate Park- half basketball court<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Coomba Falls at Maidenwell &#8211; completion of steps<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Proston Lookout development<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Kumbia Recreation Park redevelopment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Nanango &#8211; Butter Factory Park additional toilet block &#8211; $220,000<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Kingaroy &#8211; Lions Park Amenities Replacement &#8211; $269,815<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Works will also be undertaken at Les Muller Park in Blackbutt, Benarkin First Settlers Park, Nanango&#8217;s Pioneer Park, Nanango Lions Park, Kumbia Apex Park, Kingaroy Lions Park, Kingaroy Apex Park car park, Kingaroy&#8217;s Carew Park and the Blackbutt to Linville Rail Trail.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Other capital projects include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Blackbutt Memorial Hall reroof -$200,000<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Murgon PCYC bathroom renovations &#8211; $650,000<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Murgon PCYC squash upgrade viewing platform &#8211; $80,000<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Murgon Swimming Pool &#8211; Expansion joints replacement and repainting pool shell &#8211; $140,000<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Wondai Swimming Pool &#8211; Installation of para mobility pod to allow disability access to pool &#8211; $100,000<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Kingaroy Swimming Pool &#8211; Installation of para mobility pod to allow disability access to pool &#8211; $100,000<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Wondai 24hr Camping Area \u2013 Upgrade grounds, drainage and car parking &#8211; $150,000<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Cr Kathy Duff welcomed the record level of funding for her portfolio.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Council is investing in improvements and essential maintenance across the range of Council\u2019s assets,&#8221; Cr Duff said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The investment Council is making in these public facilities will ensure South Burnett residents continue to have access to first class community facilities across the region.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_256936\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-256936\" style=\"width: 200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/gavin-jones-350.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-256936\" src=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/gavin-jones-350.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/gavin-jones-350.jpg 200w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/gavin-jones-350-171x300.jpg 171w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-256936\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">SBRC Deputy Mayor Gavin Jones<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Deputy Mayor Gavin Jones said Council has also committed $12 million towards roads, bridges and drainage alongside its ongoing road maintenance programs.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Budget highlights in the Roads and Drainage portfolio include $2.1 million on the bitumen resealing program to extend the life of roads and streets including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bushnells Road, Nanango<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Friebergs Road, Warnung<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Gatto Road, Booie<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Kumbia Road, Brooklands<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Macauley Drive, Booie<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>MacDiarmid Street, Kingaroy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>McConnel Way, Mondure<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Memerambi -Barkers Creek Road, Wattle Camp<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Mondure-Wheatlands Road, Silverleaf<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Silverleaf Road, Byee<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Stuart Valley Drive, Haly Creek<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Transmitter Road, Charlestown<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Wellers Road, Wooroolin<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Darcie Street, Booie<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Council\u2019s sealed road network will receive a boost with $1.9 million allocated to pavement rehabilitation.<\/p>\n<p>The road identified for this year\u2019s rehabilitation project is Tingoora-Chelmsford Road. Stage 1 of this multi-year project is partially funded through the Federal Government\u2019s Roads to Recovery program.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Funding has also been secured for a number of works around schools:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wooroolin State School \u2013 footpath and children\u2019s crossing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Tessmanns Road, Kingaroy \u2013 new footpath<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Murgon State School \u2013 crossing upgrades along Angel and Gore streest, and footpath upgrades along Krebs\u00a0 Street and Dutton Street East<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Murgon State High School \u2013 parking upgrades along Gore Street from Cooper to Harm streets<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Kingaroy State High School \u2013 bus interchange upgrade along Markwell Street<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Saint Mary\u2019s Catholic College \u2013 new footpath along Fitzroy to Albert streets<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Other funding in the portfolio includes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Shoulder Resheeting Program &#8211; $500,000 for Denmark Road, Wooroolin; Liesegangs Road, Crawford; Parker Road, Ellesmere; Reedy Creek Road, Benair; and Couchmans Road, Memerambi<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Bridge Rehabilitation &#8211; $770,000 for timber bridge replacement on Home Creek Loop Road<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Footpath renewals \u2013 $100,000 for Drayton Street, Nanango<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Council is also committing $2 million to vulnerable infrastructure such as road floodways and water crossings to increase resilience during extreme weather.<\/p>\n<p>A total of $1 million has been allocated for a targeted rehabilitation program on the sealed road network to undertake permanent repairs to some of the higher priority defects.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Council&#8217;s water and wastewater infrastructure will receive a $2.9 million boost in the Council\u2019s 2023-24 budget with a $7.9 million capital expenditure program.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Key works include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>$279,000 &#8211; Gordonbrook Off-Stream Storage detailed design and costings to determine project scope. This project is proposed to ensure water supply availability to Kingaroy for up to six weeks should the Boondooma water pipeline fail or be shut down for a substantial period<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>$786,000 \u2013 Continued replacement of the ageing water main program in Wondai&#8217;s Mackenzie Street (Osborne Street-End Street and Osborne Street-Scott Street); and in Kingaroy: Markwell Street (Youngman to Glendon Street), Alford Street (William to Burnett Street), Glendon Street (Alford to Markwell Street) and Jubilee Street (End to Ian Street)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>$1.6 million for regional sewer relining to ensure continuing service of existing pipelines<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>$1.75 million for new Mount Wooroolin Reservoir<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Related article: <a href=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2023\/06\/21\/south-burnett-rates-rise-3-65pc\/\">South Burnett Rates Rise 3.65pc<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>[UPDATED]<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>South Burnett Regional Council plans to install solar panels on Council facilities in a bid to reduce electricity costs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":20,"featured_media":53848,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[22,3],"tags":[1131],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v19.11 -
