Friends and family members packed into the Kumbia Race Club clubhouse on Friday evening to mark the retirement of well-known local butcher – and Kumbia icon – Brian Lenihan.<\/p>\n

Brian, who turns 81 this year, told southburnett.com.au<\/strong> he started in the butcher shop 58 years ago.<\/p>\n

Friday was his official retirement day.<\/p>\n

But he emphasised that although he’s retiring from the shop, he wasn’t retiring as president of the Kumbia Race Club – a role he’s held for 47 years!<\/p>\n

Brian was sporting a neck brace at his big celebration, courtesy of a serious motor vehicle crash a few weeks ago while heading to the Injune races.<\/p>\n

He cracked two vertebrae and three ribs in the rollover.<\/p>\n
