The Power Up Show, Shine and Swap Meet at Nanango last Sunday will help to “power up” the sporting activities held every week at the Alan Downie Sports Fields.<\/p>\n

The popular annual event always attracts cars and motorbikes from across south-east Queensland, competing for a range of trophies and spot prizes.<\/p>\n

The day is organised by the not-for-profit Nanango Sporting Association, whose members include the groups which use the sporting fields in Burnett Street, ie. the Nanango Kennel Club, Nanango Cricket Club and Nanango Panthers Soccer Club.<\/p>\n

Profits go towards maintaining the grounds and facilities.<\/p>\n

Visitors had the opportunity to admire a huge array of vehicles, ranging from a Morris Minor 1000 and a slightly battered “Love Bug” to a stunning yellow AMC Javelin, and vote for their favourites in each category.<\/p>\n

There were utes, panelvans, muscle cars and motorbikes as well as wide array of secondhand parts to pore over.<\/p>\n

Live entertainment provided a backdrop to all the activities, and a canteen and barbecue were also manned all day by volunteers.<\/p>\n

Power Up is sponsored by the Tarong Power Stations and Meandu Mine and was also supported this year by the South Burnett Regional Council.<\/p>\n
