South Burnett Care hosted an “Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea” fundraiser in Kingaroy on Thursday morning, but it was also a great way to have some fun.<\/p>\n

Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea is a fundraiser for the Cancer Council, however\u00a0South Burnett Care turned it into an opportunity for staff and clients to enjoy some food together – and make music – in the sunshine next to the Apex duck pond in Avoca Street.<\/p>\n

It was also a chance to take a sneak peek at all the changes that have been happening recently at the centre.<\/p>\n

CEO Cheryl Dalton said the upgrades to the car park, which were caused by a requirement to upgrade the centre’s fire hydrant system, were almost complete.<\/p>\n

Work began on this part of the project on April 16 and should be completed in about six weeks.<\/p>\n

She wanted to sincerely thank the Kingaroy Scouts for their help; the group has been safely housing about 30 South Burnett Care vehicles at their centre while the parking area was blocked off for concreting.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mrs Dalton said some small trees which had been removed from the car parking area would be replaced with advanced growth trees, with assistance from Rotary.<\/p>\n

Inside the centre, NDIS, aged care and logistic staff are now working from modern office “pods” and desks in what was the old Senior Citizens Centre Hall.<\/p>\n

The infrastructure can be easily removed if the Senior Citizens decide to return to the space from the Town Common Hall, which they are currently using.<\/p>\n

New offices, client meeting rooms and a reception area have been developed which will connect to the new car park.<\/p>\n

A new Board room has also been created.<\/p>\n

Mrs Dalton said Stage 3 of the redevelopment would eventually simplify some of the other office spaces, which will be based around a main corridor.<\/p>\n

Items such as doors and windows from the old building were being re-purposed wherever possible.<\/p>\n
