Fifteen local artists, ranging in age from 15 to 80, took the opportunity to participate in the first workshop of a two-part acrylics art course with well-known Sunshine Coast artist and tutor Don Milner<\/strong><\/a> on the weekend.<\/p>\n

The workshop, held at the 1913 Council Chambers in Kingaroy, was run by the Murgon Art Group and funded by a grant from the South Burnett Regional Council’s RADF Fund.<\/p>\n

It explored the potential of acrylic paints and media, as well as introduced the students to easy ways to interpret reference photos and get much more from their content.<\/p>\n

In addition to acrylics, Don also gave the students a four-hour drawing class, teaching them the principles of good drawing and showing them how to capture the light, tone and form of a subject to add interest, drama and variety to a drawing.<\/p>\n

Don is a professional artist and has been tutoring for many years. He’s renowned for his creative workshops and draws upon his many years of experience to encourage and inspire his students in a friendly and artistically fertile environment.<\/p>\n

His passion for his art is infectious and he has a personal commitment to share his knowledge with others.<\/p>\n

He’s a regular invited tutor at the USQ McGregor Toowoomba Winter School, and this year he will be teaching at their new Spring School as well.<\/p>\n

The weekend workshop isn’t the first one that Don’s held in the South Burnett: in January this year he ran a different workshop in Kingaroy for a dozen local artists, which also received rave reviews from those who took part.<\/p>\n

The second workshop in the latest series is scheduled to be held in October.<\/p>\n
