Nanango’s pioneering spirit was on full display on Friday night at Taras Hall with local residents decked out in their best 19th century fashions for an historic night of local plays.<\/p>\n

The gala night was part of the town’s 175th anniversary celebrations.<\/p>\n

It featured the premiere of a one-act play, \u201cTiaras At The Palace\u201d, written especially for the event by three first-time playwrights, Denise Smith, Rae Burke and Janet Korknobel, as well as Hugh O\u2019Brien’s “The Pram”, also set in Nanango.<\/p>\n

Taras Hall was filled for the occasion, with some of the audience members sporting tiaras!<\/p>\n

After the gala opening night, the two plays moved to the Nanango Theatre Company\u2019s playhouse on the corner of Elk and George streets, Nanango, for two repeat performances on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Their last performances will be this week at 7:00pm on Friday and Saturday nights (May 26-27).<\/p>\n

Tickets for these performances can be booked online<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

The focus for the 175th anniversary now switches to the Pioneer Festival, which will be held on June 10 at Nanango Showgrounds.<\/strong><\/p>\n

There will be a Pioneer Festival parade, market stalls and even a beard competition!<\/p>\n
