More than 50 people took part in the annual Mother’s Day Classic fun run along the South Burnett Rail Trail at Wondai on Sunday.<\/p>\n

This is the “pinkest” event held every year in the South Burnett, with funds raised from entry fees and raffles going to the National Breast Cancer Foundation for breast cancer research.<\/p>\n

This year’s event raised more than $1800!<\/p>\n

The Wondai Lions Club also hosted a sausage sizzle which raised another $143 for the cause.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Mother’s Day Classic has been held in the South Burnett since 2012, originally in Kingaroy before shifting to Wondai in 2017.<\/p>\n

Over that time, the event has raised thousands of dollars.<\/p>\n

But the Wondai runners (and walkers) weren’t the only people hitting the bitumen in pink on Mother’s Day.<\/p>\n

Similar events were held in about 75 other locations around Australia, with a total of about 60,000 participants across the nation.<\/p>\n

The Foundation says more than 1.5 million people have participated in the Mothers Day Classic across Australia over the past 26 years, raising $41.45 million.<\/p>\n
