The $300 million Round 1 of the Federal Government’s new $600 million Growing Regions Program will open for expressions of interest on July 5.<\/p>\n

Funding is available to support capital works projects for community and economic infrastructure across regional and rural areas.<\/p>\n

Councils and not-for-profit organisations will be able to apply for grants of between $500,000 and $15 million on a competitive basis.<\/p>\n

There is a two-stage application process.<\/p>\n

Under Stage 1, applicants will be required to submit Expressions of Interest which will be assessed to ensure projects meet eligibility requirements, project readiness and program suitability, and are aligned with regional priorities.<\/p>\n

EOIs that are assessed as meeting requirements and approved to proceed will be invited to submit a full application in Stage 2.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The grants can be used to cover up to 50 per cent of eligible project costs.<\/p>\n

Lower co-funding requirements will be in place to support First Nations, disaster-affected and remote applicants to make their projects a reality.<\/p>\n

Guidelines for the new grants program were released on Saturday by Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government Minister Catherine King.<\/p>\n
