A huge crowd headed to the Wondai Racecourse on Tuesday to relax and socialise after the morning’s Anzac Day commemorations around the region.<\/p>\n

It was a bumper turnout for a bumper meeting, with six races on the card to keep the punters happy.<\/p>\n

The fashion theme was “Poppies and Pearls” with many in the crowd obliging with Anzac Day poppies being worn in abundance.<\/p>\n

The Fashions Of The Field competition (see below) was relocated back to its old position in front of the former grandstand and hotly contested.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The three judges, Sophie Angel, Aliesha Johnston and Melanie Kimball, emphasised that picking the winners had been very hard.<\/p>\n

Local fashion icon Verelle O’Shanesy, from Kingaroy, was sashed the women’s winner.<\/p>\n

On the track, the racing went off without a hitch although some timing issues had officials scrambling behind the scenes.<\/p>\n

The winner of the prestigious Wondai Diggers Cup was Hard Landing, which was coming off a win at Ipswich.<\/p>\n

It was ridden by Paul Hamblin, trained by Pat Duff and owned by members of the Duff and Otto families.<\/p>\n
