April 26, 2023<\/strong><\/p>\n

Do you remember when Wooroolin residents lifted their time capsule back in November? Well, they did it in reverse after Monday’s Anzac Day service!<\/p>\n

The original cylinder was encased inside a concrete plinth outside Wooroolin Memorial Hall with much pomp and ceremony on Remembrance Day in 1972, with instructions for it to be opened in 50 years.<\/p>\n

Now on Anzac Day 2023, it has been refilled and lowered back into the same concrete plinth.<\/p>\n

However, this time the instructions are for it to stay down for just 30 years.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Most time capsules are buried underground but the concrete plinth outside Wooroolin Memorial Hall provides far better protection for the precious contents from damp.<\/p>\n

Proof of this were the many items from the original capsule which were on display in the bar area of the hall on Monday.<\/p>\n

Guests at Monday’s ceremony included representatives from the Wooroolin Lions, Wooroolin QCWA, Wooroolin State School and Wooroolin Hall committee.<\/p>\n
