The South Burnett Thrashers secured a hard-fought victory against the Toowoomba Rangers on Saturday at Gold Park in Toowoomba.<\/p>\n

The final score was 31-17 in a sometimes fiery game, with both teams receiving red cards.<\/p>\n

Thrashers’ president Jamie Shirlaw said that despite the red cards, the standard of play was excellent from the South Burnett team.<\/p>\n

“The team is stepping up well into B grade this year,” he said.<\/p>\n

“The new players such as Josaia Droka and Mesu Verenasau have made a positive impact on the squad.<\/p>\n

“Epa Turaganivalu, who has been captain this season, has excelled leading from the front.<\/p>\n

“Despite a strong start by the Thrashers, who scored an early try from focused phase play, they faced challenges, running out of steam towards the end of the halves.<\/p>\n

“But they never gave up and showed real heart.<\/p>\n

“Coach Mike Bishop acknowledged the need to work on the team’s fitness to maintain their performance throughout the game.”<\/p>\n

The Thrashers are now gearing up for their upcoming games, with an away match against the Warwick Water Rats followed by their first home game of the season against the Goondiwindi Emus on May 6 at T.J. O’Neill Oval in Kingaroy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“The home game is expected to be a big event for the club, as it will be followed by the A grade game between the USQ Saints and the Goondiwindi Emus.”<\/p>\n
