April 24, 2023<\/strong><\/p>\n

Two RAAF aircraft will be doing flyovers at some of the local Anzac Day commemorations on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The aircraft are an EA-18G Growler and a C-27J Spartan.<\/p>\n

The Growlers went into operation with the RAAF in 2019.<\/p>\n

They are electronic attack aircraft capable of disrupting, deceiving or denying a broad range of military electronic systems, including radars and communications.<\/p>\n

They provide a complementary capability to the F\/A-18F Super Hornets and the F-35A Joint Strike Fighter aircraft.<\/p>\n

Twelve Growlers are based at Amberley.<\/p>\n

The C-17J Spartan is a more common sight in South Burnett skies, often seen practising grass strip landings at Wondai Airport and “touch-and-go” landings at Kingaroy Airport.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Spartans have been in service with the RAAF since 2015 and are also based at Amberley.<\/p>\n

These transport aircraft can operate from unsurfaced airstrips and are used to air-drop cargo and paratroops, airlift cargo and evacuate sick or wounded personnel.<\/p>\n

  • 10:00am – Spartan to fly over Murgon Memorial<\/li>\n
  • 10:07am – Growler to fly over Goomeri Memorial<\/li>\n
  • 10:10am – Growler to fly over Cherbourg Memorial<\/li>\n
