South Burnett Thrashers are sitting in fourth spot on the Darling Downs Rugby Union B Grade ladder after two weeks of competition.<\/p>\n

The team travelled to Roma last Saturday to take on the St George Frillnecks.<\/p>\n

Coach Mike Bishop said the Frillies were in really good form.<\/p>\n

The weather was hot but the standard of rugby from both teams was really high.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, at full-time the Thrashers were behind 21-14.<\/p>\n

Mike said St George scored first from an intercept after about 30 minutes, then scored again out wide.<\/p>\n

Thrashers’ Jerry Navugavuge then scored after a build-up of many phases and pick and drives.<\/p>\n

At half-time, South Burnett was just behind, 12-7.<\/p>\n

“It was over 30 degrees at the oval but it didn’t hinder the game, with tenacious defence from both sides,” Mike said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“The score remained the same until about the 60th minute when St George scored after what looked like a forward pass.<\/p>\n

“We backed it up with good ball movement and Eliajah Kocovanua\u00a0 scored.<\/p>\n

“It was a high quality game which could have gone either way.<\/p>\n

“Our boys played well and with a lot of courage in the conditions.”<\/p>\n

Iona Varomusu kicked two conversions on debut.<\/p>\n
