The South Burnett Rugby League competition officially kicks off this weekend, but the late withdrawal of the Nanango Stags’ senior team means the A Grade draw has had to be reshuffled.<\/p>\n

There will be just one A Grade game played this weekend, Kingaroy v Cherbourg at 2:00pm on SUNDAY at T.J. O’Neill Oval in Kingaroy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Also on Sunday in Kingaroy, the South Burnett Eagles will take on Bundaberg Past Brothers in Round 2 of the Bundaberg Under 18s competition from 12:30pm.<\/p>\n

Under 6s, 8s, 10s and 12s games will go ahead as planned at T.J. O’Neill Oval on Saturday, with games starting from 9:00am.<\/p>\n

At 2:50pm, Kingaroy Red Ants will face Nanango Stags in U14s.<\/p>\n

South Burnett Eagles Under 18s began their 2023 campaign in the Bundaberg JRL competition last weekend with a decisive win over the Hervey Bay Seagulls at Salter Oval in Bundaberg.<\/strong><\/p>\n

At full-time, the Eagles were ahead 44-14.<\/p>\n

South Burnett try scorers were Marshall Heard (2), Jack Webber (2), Nathan Roderick (2), Casey Jones and Harrison Sippel.<\/p>\n

Jayden Tewes-Smallwood kicked six from six conversions.<\/p>\n

The Under 18s will be playing a 13-round competition, with the first of four home games to be played this weekend in Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

All the Under 18s games will be played on Sundays.<\/p>\n

* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Wondai “She-Wolves” Under 16s also started their season with an historic 36-28 win on Sunday over the Bundaberg Bears at Bundaberg.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is the first all-female junior team in regular competition in the history of the Wondai-Proston Wolves RLFC.<\/p>\n

Wolves’ try scorers were Bella Barrett (3), Taya Solomon (2),\u00a0 Anna Christensen and Draysharn Arnold.<\/p>\n

Goals were kicked by Summer Sullivan (2), Jayla Solomon and Taya Solomon.<\/p>\n

In the Open women’s match played at the same venue, the Fraser Coast Crushers were ahead of Cherbourg 44-12 when the game was abandoned due to an injury to a Crushers’ player.<\/p>\n

This weekend, Bundaberg will play Cherbourg, and Fraser Coast will face Wondai in the Open competition; while Fraser Coast will play Wondai in Under 16s.<\/p>\n

All three games will be at Maryborough.<\/p>\n

Wondai Wolves have had nine players selected for the Wide Bay Bulls Women’s 47th Battalion Team: Traevonnah Fisher, Sophia Fisher, Nickie Geysing, Hailee Hearfield, Reggie Hickey, Elle Mollenhauer, Ellen Mosby, Holly Patton and Violet Whitby.<\/strong><\/p>\n
