Footpath improvements and a new, sealed parking area aim to improve safety near Murgon State High School<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

April 5, 2023<\/strong><\/p>\n

Six projects designed to improve safety around local schools have gained $1.2 million funding from the State Government’s School Transport Infrastructure Program.<\/p>\n

The six projects will be completed during 2023-24:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • St Joseph\u2019s Catholic Primary School and Murgon State School<\/strong> – Upgrade both crossings to a combined children\u2019s crossing and pedestrian crossing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      \n
    • St Mary\u2019s Catholic College, Kingaroy<\/strong> – Footpath along east side of Kent Street connecting Albert and Fitzroy streets, including an upgrade to the Carinya Street pedestrian crossing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
        \n
      • Kingaroy State High School and Kingaroy State School bus interchange<\/strong> – Installation and extension of concrete medians between all bus parking bays to ensure protected pedestrian access. Changes to line marking and signage may also be undertaken to improve the order of operation for buses and parent drop-off.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
          \n
        • Murgon State High School road widening<\/strong> – New sealed street parking on the west side of Gore Street between Harm and Cooper streets. This includes the installation of drainage infrastructure and line marking to support the safe use of the area.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
            \n
          • Murgon State High School and Murgon State School<\/strong> – Replacement of existing bitumen footpath with a concrete footpath from Krebs Street to the pool entrance, adjacent to the school crossing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
              \n
            • Kingaroy State High School (carparking and crossing)<\/strong> – Upgraded pedestrian crossings at the William \/ Toomey streets intersection, drainage improvements in the cul-de-sac in Avoca Street and modifications to the bus zone allowing for extra car parking bays on Avoca Street.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
