Goomeri Pumpkin Festival Inc has received an FRRR grant to help restart the iconic event<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Three South Burnett community groups have been awarded a total of more than $35,000 in grants from the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal’s (FRRR) Strengthening Rural Communities program.<\/p>\n

Gordonbrook Rural Fire Brigade has received $9332 from the “Small & Vital” funding stream to improve their fire shed by installing floor coverings and painting the internal walls.<\/p>\n

Goomeri Pumpkin Festival Inc and Murgon Primary P&C Association both received grants from the “Prepare & Recover” stream.<\/p>\n

The Pumpkin Festival committee received $15,000 to “stimulate the community and economy post-flooding by hiring equipment to restart the Goomeri Pumpkin Festival”.<\/p>\n

The Murgon State School P&C received $10,792 to establish a Murgon Community Fair “to encourage people to come together and celebrate for mental wellbeing after the floods”.<\/p>\n

An FRRR spokesperson said the philanthropic organisation had distributed $2,309,331 in grants to 176 community projects across remote, rural and regional Australia as part of the Strengthening Rural Communities program.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Thirty recipients were in Queensland.<\/p>\n

This is the largest SRC round on record in terms of both funding awarded and the number of projects being funded.<\/p>\n

The grant money has been funded by a number of donors.<\/p>\n

The program is split into three streams: Small & Vital, Prepare & Recover (disaster recovery) and Rebuilding Regional Communities (supporting recovery from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic).<\/p>\n

Local not-for-profit organisations and community groups have been encouraged to review the program guidelines<\/a><\/strong> to apply for grants.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
