March 29, 2023<\/strong><\/p>\n

The sun shone brightly on Goomeri’s 83rd Show on Saturday, and if the number of entrants in the Showgirl and Rural Ambassador competitions is any indication, the show also has a bright future!<\/p>\n

There was plenty of action in the stud and prime cattle competitions, chainsaw ripping, equestrian events and in the keenly contested Stockman’s Challenge.<\/p>\n

Barrel racing took over main arena in the evening with a challenge between horses and motorbikes, followed by motorbike-only competitions.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the official opening, Show Society president David Pitstock thanked the volunteers and his committee members who had worked hard behind the scenes to make the show a reality.<\/p>\n

He especially singled out treasurer Sasha Ross and secretary Emily Kemp for praise.<\/p>\n

Mr Pitstock said there had been changes happening at the showgrounds, with a few things demolished and the new ablution block almost ready.<\/p>\n

A concrete pad had been laid for the new stud cattle shed, and there were plans to develop a parade ring at the bottom of the hill.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the future, people would be able to sit on the hill and watch the stud cattle being judged.<\/p>\n

Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington thanked the amazing number of entrants in the Showgirl and Rural Ambassador competitions.<\/p>\n

She said they would be the future of the Goomeri Show.<\/p>\n

Cr Hilary Smerdon, who officially opened the show, also said he couldn’t believe how many entrants there were in these competitions.<\/p>\n

He congratulated Mr Pitstock and his committee on a great effort and all the improvements that had occurred over the past few years.<\/p>\n
