The first steps have been taken towards forming an All-Abilities Cricket team in the South Burnett.<\/p>\n

On Saturday morning, a team of players from the “Blind Bats” at Morayfield visited Kingaroy to show off their skills in “Beep Cricket” at the River Road ground.<\/p>\n

Charlie Hughes began the last cricket season playing for a South Burnett senior team, Kingaroy Orange, but as his eyesight deteriorated he had to take an off-field role with the club.<\/p>\n

But he was keen to keep playing so on Sundays he travelled to Morayfield to play with the “Blind Bats” in their competition.<\/p>\n

It was this connection which led to the “Blind Bats” coming up to Kingaroy at the weekend to host a “come and try” day.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jae Clarke, from Nanango, was keen to have a go.<\/p>\n

Jae told southburnett.com.au<\/strong> he used to play “rubbish bin” cricket when was a youngster which he had enjoyed.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy Services Club president Glenn Kelly said the South Burnett Cricket Association wanted to support the creation of an All Abilities team to play in Morayfield.<\/p>\n

There are currently two teams in this competition, but it is about to expand to four, playing for the Ian Healy Shield.<\/p>\n
