Toowoomba Regional Council has endorsed a growth plan to accommodate the extra 66,000 people expected to join the regional population during the next 30 years.<\/p>\n

The Toowoomba Region Growth Plan is a long-term population and employment growth strategy for the region to 2051.<\/p>\n

Cr Bill Cahill said it established a clear and co-ordinated long-term growth strategy to guide where and how employment and population growth would occur.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn 30 years time the region will be home to approximately 66,600 new residents and 35,900 new jobs, requiring approximately 27,000 new dwellings,\u201d Cr Cahill said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cTo make sure we sustainably manage this change in conditions, the Growth Plan is our road map for how the community wants to see our area developed in the coming years.”<\/p>\n

Cr Cahill said this was the first Growth Strategy since the eight councils amalgamated in 2008.<\/p>\n

\u201cImportantly, it comes at a time where the region is expected to benefit from significant major regional infrastructure investment,” he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt will support jobs and housing choices as well protecting the character and unique identity of our individual towns and neighbourhoods.<\/p>\n

The Growth Plan will also be used during the development of a new regional Planning Scheme and an Infrastructure Plan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
