Nanango Lions Club hosted the Q4 District Final of the Youth of the Year competition at the Nanango RSL Club on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Four high school students competed for the honour of representing the District at the Regional Final, which will be held in Rockhampton next weekend.<\/p>\n

The students represented Lions Clubs in Nanango, Gympie South, Gympie and Caloundra.<\/p>\n

Nanango State High School student Declan Cogger won the local club competition last Thursday, giving him just a few days to prepare for the District competition.<\/p>\n

The students were interviewed by the judges during the afternoon.<\/p>\n

They then had to deliver two timed impromptu speeches before an audience, and then a pre-prepared speech.<\/p>\n

Nanango Lions Club secretary Jenny Robinson chaired the competition.<\/p>\n

The winner was Gympie’s St Patrick’s College student Jasmine White, representing Gympie South Lions Club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
