March 13, 2023<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Red Ant Round-Up – a one-day gathering of medical specialists, GPs and allied health workers – attracted about 140 people to Kingaroy at the weekend.<\/p>\n

This is the fifth time Kingaroy has hosted the biennial Round-Up.<\/p>\n

Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN CEO Lucille Chalmers said the\u00a0serious part of proceedings was held at the Kingaroy TAFE conference, with speakers focussing on mental health topics.<\/p>\n

Discussions included general mental health – including within the medical profession – as well as specialist topics such as perinatal and maternal wellbeing, treatment options for young people, suicide prevention, culturally appropriate treatments, and sexual health and gender dysphoria.<\/p>\n

Attendees then relaxed at the end of the day with a gala dinner at Kingaroy Town Hall on Saturday night, featuring a performance by the Wakka Wakka Dancers.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Guest speaker was journalist and author Rick Morton.<\/p>\n

Local band Ryza provided live music into the evening.<\/p>\n
