Kingaroy State High School graduate Zach Knight is the lucky recipient of this year’s Nanango Electorate Year 12 School Leaver\u2019s Bursary.<\/p>\n

Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington said she had received many high-quality applications from Year 12 school leavers across the Nanango electorate.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy bursary recognises that for many Year 12 school leavers in our area it is necessary to travel, or move to major centres to access further education, whether it be TAFE, university or trade skills and sometimes they need financial assistance to make this move possible,\u201d Mrs Frecklington said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis year, Kingaroy SHS graduate, Zach Knight has been chosen to receive the $1000 bursary to help him relocate to Townsville where he was accepted to study at James Cook University for a Bachelor Medicine\/Bachelor of Surgery.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was very impressed by Zach\u2019s commitment to pursue a career in the health sector, with a particular focus on rural and remote medicine.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cHe explained that JCU places a firm emphasis on rural and remote medicine and he is very excited to be pursuing his aspirations of becoming a doctor and having the chance to one day give back to rural communities through a medical career.<\/p>\n

\u201cI caught up with Zach to personally congratulate him on being accepted to study medicine, and on winning my Nanango Electorate Year 12 School Leavers Bursary.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know the bursary will help alleviate some of the financial stress for Zach and his family and I look forward to following his progress as he achieves his dream of working in the field of medicine.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would also like to thank Mr Keith Campbell who once again assisted me with each of the interviews, and in the difficult task of choosing the bursary winner.<\/p>\n
