The Wondai tennis courts have enjoyed a $96,610 makeover, thanks to the Gambling Community Benefit Fund.<\/p>\n

Two of the three Council-owned courts in South Street have been recovered with artificial grass.<\/p>\n

The funding application, by the Wondai and District Tennis Association, was made on behalf of its four member clubs: Wondai, Tingoora, Chelmsford and Mondure.<\/p>\n

The refurbished courts were officially opened on Saturday morning by Cr Scott Henschen at a small ceremony attended by members of the four clubs.<\/p>\n

Association treasurer Margaret Burrows said sand had been sprinkled on top of the artificial surface which will work in and create a “good bounce” for the players.<\/p>\n

She said the courts can be hired by members of the public for a small fee.<\/p>\n

The Association hosts social tennis games every Monday night from 7:00pm, alternating between the four member clubs.<\/p>\n
