The countdown has well and truly begun for the 65th annual Proston Show! Guests gathered at the Proston Golf Club on Saturday night to enjoy the presentation dinner and the judging of the 2023 Proston Showgirl and Rural Ambassador.<\/p>\n

The winners of these two top awards were presented with paintings as a permanent reminder of their success.<\/p>\n

Judges May Gossow, from Crows Nest; Robert Smith, from Proston; and 2022 South Burnett Rural Ambassador Daniel Trace, from Kingaroy; admitted they had a tough task separating the winners.<\/p>\n

Madeleine Blaker, from Brisbane, was sashed Proston Showgirl with Jorja Cooper runner-up.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sarah Clegg, Proston, was sashed Junior Showgirl, with Tess Nisbet, Proston, runner-up.<\/p>\n

Junior Show Princess was Alysse Clegg, Proston, with Kathleen Hockey, Hivesville, runner-up.<\/p>\n

Cody Beasley, Tingoora, received the rosette for Rural Ambassador.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Junior Rural Ambassador was Maggie Livett, from Nanango.<\/p>\n

The Proston Show Society awarded a special Encouragement Award to Junior Rural Ambassador runner-up Ethan Clegg, Proston, as the judging had been so close.<\/p>\n

This year’s Proston Show is coinciding with the centenary of the town so it promises to be bigger and better than ever.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Events will be spread over two days, March 10-11, with the main show day being Saturday.<\/p>\n

On Friday night, the Young Farmers Challenge will test the skills of teams of four in an obstacle course based on farming skills.<\/p>\n

Some of the other show highlights unveiled so far include Off-The-Track racehorses, dog high-jumping, mini horses and a special fireworks display on the Saturday.<\/p>\n

All the other traditional show attractions will also be taking place, including woodchopping, chainsaw races, horses and a dog show.<\/p>\n

And, of course, Proston Show always features keenly contested Prime and Stud Cattle competitions.<\/p>\n

Admission costs are $10 for adults and $5 for high school students (under 12s are free). A family pass (two adults, three children) is $25.<\/p>\n
