The South Burnett Thrashers have notched up their second win in the Darling Downs B Grade rugby union competition – and it was another one “on the road”.<\/p>\n

They defeated the Dalby Wheatmen 19-13 under lights at Dalby on Friday night.<\/p>\n

Club president Shane O’Malley said the Thrashers had 23 players available which gave the squad a lot of depth.<\/p>\n

He said the team played with really good intensity and their defence was also “really, really good”.<\/p>\n

“Dalby was finding it hard to break through our line,” he said.<\/p>\n

The South Burnett’s man of the match was Mitch Cush who was on fire all night in the centres.<\/p>\n

Shane said Scott Sims played well in the forwards and Brendon Flood, who came off the bench, had a good game in the front row.<\/p>\n

Joel Wolski also had a good game as hooker.<\/p>\n

“But it was a full team effort,” Shane said.<\/p>\n

“Having the extra numbers enabled us to play at high intensity which was the telling factor.”<\/p>\n

Shane said the two “away” wins the team has secured this year were tasty little bonuses.<\/p>\n

“The group is starting to believe they deserve these wins and they are starting to play accordingly,” he said.<\/p>\n

The Thrashers have another game away from home next weekend, against USQ Saints at Toowoomba.<\/p>\n

Saints are yet to record a victory after six rounds of competition but only suffered a narrow loss (12-10) to the Toowoomba Bears on Saturday.<\/p>\n

NB:<\/strong> The Friday night match was originally scheduled to be a home game on Saturday for the Thrashers but was shifted because of the Burrandowan Races.
