February 14, 2023<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kingaroy Senior Soccer club members were celebrating both on and off the field recently after another super successful Summer 7s carnival at Tom Alford Oval.<\/p>\n

On the field … two KSS-based teams faced off in the prestigious Men’s Final for the first time anyone could remember.<\/p>\n

And off the field … nearly 60 teams took part in the two-day carnival, coming from as far away as Hervey Bay, the Fraser Coast and Caboolture.<\/p>\n

The annual Summer 7s carnival in Kingaroy always provides a nice boost to the local economy because of the hundreds of players and supporters who stay overnight in town.<\/p>\n

Dozens of colourful shade shelters lined the fields and the canteen volunteers were kept very busy.<\/p>\n

Games were played across four fields, including on the training area at the rugby league grounds next door.<\/p>\n

Light rain on Saturday morning didn’t disrupt the hectic schedule, with teams playing through the drizzle.<\/p>\n

A highlight of the weekend was the presentation of a Life Membership of the Kingaroy Senior Soccer to stalwart Thomas Carroll who has been heavily involved in the carnival, and the Merry Men team which was celebrating its 20th anniversary.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Congratulating Thomas, Football South Burnett president Steve Copas said the award was “well and truly long overdue”.<\/p>\n

Steve also paid tribute to the many volunteers who worked hard across the weekend.<\/p>\n
