Firebreak Farm at Neumgna is one of 12 farming businesses across Queensland which have secured a State Government Agritourism Business Grant.<\/p>\n

The funding, delivered in partnership with the Queensland Farmers’ Federation, aims to allow producers to establish or expand agritourism enterprises.<\/p>\n

The grants were announced by Agriculture Minister Mark Furner last week.<\/p>\n

\u201cTwelve farming businesses have secured between $8000 to $25,000 in matched funding to engage specialist services, and construct or modify on-farm infrastructure,\u201d Minister Furner said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese farming businesses want to be more resilient and have the capacity to diversify or expand into successful agritourism businesses.\u201d<\/p>\n

The family-owned Firebreak Farm, near Maidenwell, offers pasture-raised beef, lamb, pork and poultry.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It sells bulk meat packs to consumers direct from the farm.<\/p>\n

QFF CEO Jo Sheppard said agritourism helped to connect city communities to regional communities, built a bridge between country and city, grew an understanding of food production and an understanding of the agricultural sector more broadly.<\/p>\n
