December 21, 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n

A number of South Burnett junior cricketers have been action for Wide Bay in the recent Queensland Junior Cricket championships.<\/p>\n

The championships were held from December 12-16 at Gympie (U12), Brisbane (U13), Southport (U14), Sunshine Coast (U15), Cairns (U16 Bulls Masters Youth Cup).<\/p>\n

As well, Charlotte Love took part in the U15 Female State Challenge at Redlands with the Coastal Burners.<\/p>\n

Development carnivals for Under 12s and Under 14s will also be held during the school holidays in Brisbane and on the Sunshine Coast.<\/p>\n

Murgon Crusaders defeated Wooroolin Warriors by three wickets in a hard-fought Grand Final of the Gympie A Grade One-Day competition, played at Murgon Sportsground on December 3.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Murgon won the toss and sent Wooroolin in to bat in the local derby.<\/p>\n

Wooroolin were all out for 149 in the 35th over, with Matthew Springate top-scoring with 35 runs.<\/p>\n

Crusaders’ bowlers shared the wickets but Graham Brown (3\/10 off five overs), Tom Currin (2\/22) and Nicholas Sanewski (2\/22) had the best figures.<\/p>\n

In reply, Murgon (7\/150) overtook the target in the 39th over<\/p>\n

Brenton Polzin (45) and Nicholas Sanewski (34) were the top scorers.<\/p>\n

Tyler Henness (2\/18 off eight) and Kieran Askin (2\/29 off 7.5) were the best of the Warriors’ bowlers.<\/p>\n

Two weeks later, Murgon added another trophy to their cabinet, taking out the Gympie A Grade T20 competition final, too (see below).<\/strong><\/p>\n

      • Nanango Yellow (5\/156) def. Kingaroy Services Orange (6\/153) by five wickets at Allan Downie Sports Fields, Nanango.<\/li>\n
      • Nanango Purple (3\/207) def. Murgon (8\/90) by 117 runs\u00a0at Allan Downie Sports Fields, Nanango.<\/li>\n
      • Nanango Yellow (0\/140) def. Kingaroy Services Blue (3\/138) by 10 wickets at Allan Downie Sports Fields, Nanango.<\/li>\n
      • Kingaroy Services Orange (4\/200) def. Nanango Purple (7\/182) by 18 runs at Allan Downie Sports Fields, Nanango.<\/li>\n
      • Murgon (3\/175) def. Wooroolin Warriors (6\/119) by 56 runs at Kingaroy State School.<\/li>\n
      • Wooroolin and Tingoora won their games over Wondai by default.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        The SBCA Senior T20 competition will recommence on January 7.<\/p>\n

          DECEMBER 16-17:<\/strong><\/p>\n

          • Murgon (9\/100) def. Gympie Royals (9\/96) by four runs at Keith Manthey Oval, Gympie.<\/li>\n
          • Murgon (5\/144) def. Gympie Colts (83 all out) at Kosminsky Oval, Gympie.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            On December 18, Murgon (2\/93) defeated Gympie Colts (88 all out) in the A Grade T20 Grand Final played at Keith Manthey Oval.<\/strong><\/p>\n

            Murgon won the toss and sent Colts in to bat. They were all out in the 19th over.<\/p>\n
