South Burnett Regional Council has welcomed the extension of a hairdressing course being offered at the Kingaroy TAFE campus.<\/p>\n

Mayor Brett Otto urged interested people to support the six-month Certificate II in Salon Assistant course, which has been extended from high school students into the wider South Burnett community.<\/p>\n

The course, which will start in January, will enable participants to get a job as a salon assistant or begin a hairdressing apprenticeship.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is about long-term jobs and small businesses and keeping our young people here with exciting futures ahead,\u201d Mayor Otto said.<\/p>\n

TAFE teacher Kyla Steinhardt said students would gain skills in the “real-life salon setting” on campus.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe cover of all the basics including how to communicate with clients about the range of services available, working as part of a wider salon team, salon health and safety considerations and completing financial transactions,\u201d Ms Steinhardt said.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019ll work with real clients in a fully operational hairdressing setting, learning how to perform a range of duties including hair washing, basin services and blow drying to provide a great pamper experience for visitors to our salon.\u201d<\/p>\n
