The South Burnett Woodcrafters first “garage sale” on Saturday has been hailed as a big success.<\/p>\n

Management committee member Darryl Roberts said about 90 per cent of the items they had put out for sale had been snapped up.<\/p>\n

At least 150 people had been through doors of their complex in King Street, Kingaroy, until noon, with still three more hours left.<\/p>\n

Most of the items on sale were woodworking equipment although there was some craft and jewellery items, books and shelving.<\/p>\n

Darryl said the sale – which took several months to put together – was being held on behalf of two deceased estates.<\/p>\n

“It only came about because of the two former members,” Darryl said.<\/p>\n

“It was mainly to help families who no longer have a use for woodworking tools.”<\/p>\n

About 30 club members also helped out on the day, manning a sausage sizzle as well as looking after the sales.<\/p>\n

The garage sale was also an opportunity for visitors to inspect the Woodcrafters’ huge workshop area which was only opened in March this year.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The complex incorporates the former Q Link freight depot site but former railway staff wouldn’t recognise the place now, with new floors, wall and roof.<\/p>\n

The members have also been very busy creating “Woodies Goodies”, a stand-alone gift shop filled with items handmade by members.<\/p>\n

The gift shop, located beside the workshop, is open from 8:30am to noon on club days, ie. Tuesdays and Saturdays.<\/p>\n

People can also drop in and have a chat with the club members, especially if they are interested in joining!<\/p>\n

The woodcrafters are also willing to tackle special projects from the public, eg. trophies, cutting boards, presentation pens etc which can be ordered via Woodies Goodies.<\/p>\n
