Bravehearts founder and child protection campaigner Hetty Johnston AM will be the guest speaker at the South Burnett Mayor\u2019s Community Christmas Lunch at Kingaroy Town Hall this Friday (November 25).<\/p>\n

Hetty started Bravehearts in 1997 after she discovered a family member had suffered a sexual assault.<\/p>\n

When she looked around and found there was no organisation she could to turn to for help, she set up her own, Bravehearts, to provide advice and support to families affected by child sexual abuse.<\/p>\n

She stepped away from her roles at Bravehearts last year and is now co-chair of the National Office for Child Safety Advisory Group.<\/p>\n

At Friday’s lunch, Hetty plans to focus on the issues of mental health arising from the impacts of a traumatic event, the stages of recovery and moving towards resilience.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Her attendance has been jointly funded by the Federal and State fovernments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.<\/p>\n

A Council spokesperson said the $25 tickets for the Mayor\u2019s Community Christmas Lunch are still available at all Customer Service Counters or by calling (07) 4189-9100.<\/p>\n

Proceeds from ticket sales and raffles will go to local charities.<\/p>\n

Diners will be entertained by Friends of the Shed, and there\u2019ll also be raffles for a variety of prizes generously donated by South Burnett businesses.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s luncheon is proudly supported by Bega Cheese Limited, Best & Less, Bunnings, Cox Plumbing, Deb Frecklington MP, DeepFeet Massage, Discount Drug Stores Kingaroy, Domino\u2019s, Huston Motors, Jamaica Blue Kingaroy, Kingaroy RSL Club, Kingaroy Visitor Information Centre, Kingsley Grove Estate, Muffin Break Kingaroy, McDonald\u2019s, Nichols Printing, Perie\u2019s SupaIGA Kingaroy, Plenty Foods, QCWA Kingaroy Branch, South Burnett Regional Council, South Burnett Woodcrafters, Supercheap Auto, Swickers, The Peanut Van, Toyworld and local media outlets.<\/p>\n
