Federal Emergency Management Minister Murray Watt<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

November 15, 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n

Following pressure from primary producers and the State Opposition, the deadline for applications for some Extraordinary Disaster Assistance Recovery Grants has been extended.<\/p>\n

The new deadline is March 10, 2023.<\/p>\n

Up to $75,000 is available for primary producers and $50,000 for small businesses and not-for-profit organisations hit by the South East Queensland Rainfall and Flooding Event between February 22 and April 5, 2022.<\/p>\n

The grants are jointly funded by the Federal and State Queensland governments under Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).<\/p>\n

Federal Minister for Emergency Management, Senator Murray Watt, said the extension was important to ensure every eligible Queenslander had access to the support they needed as they continued to recover.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve extended the application date because we recognise the severe and ongoing challenges of recent weather events, and the lack of contractor availability to carry out works, has made it difficult for some people to apply,\u201d Minister Watt said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to make sure nobody is left behind and finalising a grant application is not necessarily front-of-mind after a disaster.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe won\u2019t rush people already facing significant challenges as they undergo a lengthy recovery process.\u201d<\/p>\n
